Photo of Sheila Maguire with FiddleMy love of art began at a young age, and I pursued this love throughout my high school and college years, studying advertising & marketing as well as design.

My first professional use of my skills was when I began working at The Desert Shamrock Newspaper in Tempe, at the age of 23. It was run solely by a great man—the late Bob Graham. It is an Irish newspaper that did not write about religion or politics, but instead focused on the positive aspects of Irish culture and community. I wrote articles, did ad sales, designed ads, designed logos, and designed the layout of the newspaper. Bob passed away after 2 years and I ran the paper as managing editor for one year.

I returned to NYC and after some time working as an Administrative Assistant, I got a Graphic Designer/Project Manager job for Encore Digital Imaging. This was a progressive digital/art/graphics/presentation output resource firm that worked exclusively for the major banks and brokerage firms on Wall Street and throughout Manhattan. Creating business cards, invitations, banners, posters, PowerPoint presentations, logo design, map plotting, photo restoration, etc. Clients included: Deutsche Bank; Solomon Brothers; Goldman Sachs; Ralph Lauren, Sketchers, American Express; J.P. Morgan, Visa. I prepared sensitive documents and presentations such as the Standard & Poor’s Structured Finance Report; documentation for bank merges...

After some time of touring I began working as a Freelance Graphic Designer for Vanguard agency in NYC, where I was placed as a Layout Artist for SONY Music; preparing layouts for music CD covers and ads in the Village Voice for artists such as: Jennifer Lopez’s “J.LO”; Aerosmiths “Jaded”, Rage Against the Machine’s “Renegades”….

I was then placed in Jordan Case McGrath as Graphic Designer where I worked on presentations for advertising clients such as Welch’s, ING Investments, and Colgate Palmolive….

Then onto PaceWildenstein Gallery where I worked as a Graphic Designer, preparing invitations and gallery ads in Art In America Magazine.

Exceptional proficiency in: PhotoShop, Quark, PageMaker, Illustrator, Corel Draw, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel on both PC and Mac platforms; knowledge of color theory, color correction, digital and traditional printing methods.
